Just when you think all is great, it has this way of making a sharp left and shaking everything up. This would become a reoccurring theme is much of Cara's like, starting with her general conception. Two ship passing in the night led to a small accident with a rip, which led to the little girl. Somehow, someway, luck smiled down on the impromptu coupling. Deciding that they were young and foolish and that chances could be taken, they found that they lived well enough together and ended up in a relatively happy union. They lived in her mother's town, on a little Ranch the woman had inherited from a long line of Ranchers.Cara's early life was happy, and sometimes, when it doesn't hurt so much to remember, she thinks on it fondly. She had two loving parents, friends in town, a big plot of land she could run around and explore, a multitude of different animals, and all the love and care a child could ever ask for. She laughed, cried, smiled and frowned just as any normal child would. She was happy and would probably end up being a natural Rancher, like her mother, but be just as strong headed and bold as her father. Yes, the future smiled brightly down on little Cara. However, life isn't always such a kind mistress. She can't really remember what happened. All that Cara knows was that she and her parents were visiting a friend of the families; something to with a shop and animals, she doesn't really remember. There was a commotion, of some sort, and they all left the house. Or were they in the house? All she knows was that a cow was mooing and it was so bright and hot all of a sudden. Then everything started hurting and she heard Papa yelling and she passed out. When she woke up, it was so bright and white. A hospital. But little Cara didn't understand. All she knew was that her skin felt funny and every time she asked for her mommy or daddy, they told her they wouldn't be coming for her cause they had passed away. Children do not understand such concepts of death, though. So as she spend time in the hospital, even with people visiting her and and stuff, she just thought they had forgotten her for the longest time. There was so much waiting. Cara's time in the hospital was a lengthy and complicated one. She was given coloring books and a few cheap toys by compassionate (or perhaps pity ridden) staff. Most of her days were spent being poked and prodded by doctor's needles or answering questions she didn't understand or just sitting in bed and existing. Bedridden, she had little that she could do and no desire to get up. It hurt too much. Over time it all seemed to blur together, one big haze of white and pain and sadness. This was only cemented by the habits of her visitors, as they had pretty much dwindled down to none until she was sure that the small town of Pastora had forgotten about her, too. When Cara was finally able, she was moved from the hospital to home. Or, at least, someone's home. It seemed that for all of the friends her parents had, none of them were willing to take in the scarred girl and raise her on their dime. She doesn't really remember much, having repressed most of her childhood memories, but she does know that she was moved around a lot. She also knew that it was because of how she looked, but she really didn't see how that mattered. That little fact changed when she was plopped into a typical school setting. The scars that covered the right side of her body were unsightly and ugly, and no matter what she did the other children either made fun of her or ignored her. Her moving of families so much put her into many different schools, each with a fresh set of kid to bully her as soon as she was placed there. It was hurtful times, and mostly stayed this way up until she became an adult. Sometime throughout all of that, Cara was deemed to be mentally unstable, and has ever since been a ward of the state. The only real 'friend' she ever had was her Therapist, who would try and ease her woes an hour at a time and pump her full of pills when needed. It took many years, but at some point she was deemed able to live on her own... in a way. She was ordered, by her Therapist, to take the deed to her Parent's old Ranch in Pastora and live ot her life as they would have wanted. The Therapist said that she would still need to make regular visits and make sure to take her pills, but with so few people in the town it should be fine.
