[atrb=border,0,true] the path of idleness The spring sun was up, and a good number of people and creatures were up as well. Even the winds were going 'up' due to the change in air pressure from warm air rising. However, this 'up' movement was not the case for one self-sufficient inventor. Well... one could make a case that he too was 'up' if one happened to catch sight of his position of rest at the moment, but for all useful purposes, Ulric Carter was down in rest. Yes indeed. Down Rococo Alley and out of the way of other buildings, a rather different sort of building stood with a cylindrical curvature to it and what appeared to be a windmill at the top. On the door there appeared to be a sign displaying the name of the business and what it did: "Carter's Inventions and Repairs". If one came up to this building and knocked on the door, he would find it obscurely unlocked, and if the person then stepped inwards and became a trespasser, he would find a large room with various machine parts and pieces that seemed to be centered around what would be a large desk/table if it had all four of its legs. Instead, one of the legs was being propped up by a good number of books that served as its leg thus making it... not quite a desk in most senses of the word. Off to the back there appeared to be a series of stairs that led up somewhere though there were no lights to verify just what was at the top if anything. If someone happened to be curious enough to walk up those stairs, he would find a loft of some sort with a bedroom and kitchen that were somewhat banged up in all senses of the word but decent enough. Though one would probably believe he would find the owner of this particular shop in bed as was alluded to in his rest, one would find that he wasn't there. Instead, leaned over on the bar of the kitchen almost standing upright on the lower half, Ulric Carter rested one hand still on the bread that he had not managed to get in the toaster before sleep overtook him. What exactly had caused anyone to fall asleep in such a way could probably be debatable to a certain degree, but in the case of Ulric, it was lack of sleep over the last week or so that had caused this predicament- not for lack of trying, mind you. It seemed that for whatever reason, his body had opted to keep him up for most of the week up until that particular moment where it decided to break down in the 'middle of the road' so to speak. Now he was just getting some shut eye until something changed the status quo whether it was a knock on the door or something else that could possible rouse him from such laxness. - notes Words: 495 Anything else: x3; I hope you can run with this, neh. made by amb tanz ➔ |
