Corrine wasn't exactly sure the same could be said about the rest of the valley, or its inhabitants. Still anything was better at this point than being on the receiving end of the constant looks of pity and remorse or hearing the constant whispers. Poor girl, and so young too.Do you think she'll end up alone? It's such a shame...First it had been tragic, then horrifying, then truly sad, and now it was just a shame. Why yes, yes it was a darn shame that her fiancé had died and it was a darn shame that she had to move away from her hometown to actually feel like she could really move on with her life again. Everything was just a shame. Corrine here in Pastora Valley with a smile on her face though, excited at the prospect of starting over from a fresh page. She could reinvent herself into whatever she wanted, she could literally become a different person. She wasn’t going to lie and say the thought hadn’t crossed her mind a thousand and one times. It would be so simple to change her name, tweak her history and a little and no one would be wiser. It would be so easy to just…run away. Corri had done enough of that though, plus her brother’s had claimed they would come find her and beat her to a pulp if she changed too much. Knowing them, she knew they would make good on the promise. She stood and watched the picture surrounding her for a moment, both people getting on and off the train. Hugging family and friends in a tearful goodbye or an excited hello, it made the woman feel a little more alone, the fact that she didn’t have anyone to greet her, but she told herself to suck it up. She would be going to have to be a big girl and make her own way around town. With a new burst of determination she shouldered one bag and grabbed the other and began to make her way towards what looked to be a road to town, the problem was she had no idea where anything was. ”Uh…excuse me…” the business man breezed right past her. Well, okay then. A pair of woman approached, engrossed in conversation but Corrine figured if she caught their attention, ”Hi! Can you direct me-“ Nope, they walked by too. A small bout of frustration flared up, but she kept it in check for a moment or two. One more try, the young man who looked like he had all the time in the world to kill, Corrine practically stepped in front of him and said, ”Hey! I’m new here can you hel….the hell.” she cursed as he veered around her to go embrace what appeared to be his girlfriend, or just two over affectionate friends. Corrine sighed as her frustration finally broke through, ”Can ANYONE direct me to this town that I’m not even sure exists?!” Yeah, she had a way to win people over. WORDS! 514TAGS! OPEN! [atrb=border,0,true]"Hello!" Normally Hazel stayed as far away from the train station as possible. It reminded her too much of the time when her parents officially moved away. The memory shot through her quickly. With hugs and promises to call and visit, Hazel was left standing there in tears with a failing ranch. Of course, that had been over two years ago but the memories and terror of the moment remained. Regardless Hazel had come to the train station.
Apparently her parents were sending a large package via train, for cost purposes supposedly. The small town didn't usually do well in terms of time and cost when it came to mailing anything larger than a manilla folder. Besides, Hazel's mother had lived in the town for over thirty years. She had seen post workers come and go, and she was still friends with the current delivery man. Choosing to instead sending a large package via train seemed like the only logical conclusion.
Standing on the platform Hazel watched as the trains wooshed by, some stopping but most going by the rather lonely station. Of course various trains stopped, depositing workers who chose to live in the quiet valley but work in the large cities far away. It didn't take long before Hazel's own train arrived and she received her package. It wasn't even that big, Hazel was able to balance it on her hip and hold it with one hand. As she made her way through the platform she was caught off guard by the sound of a voice yelling.
Stopping, Hazel took a moment to actually listen. It sound like someone asking for directions? Shrugging Hazel was about to pass by when the woman stood still and began yelling. Realizing Hazel wasn't the first person to walk by the poor girl, she decided to be the nice one and walk up to her. "Pastora?" Hazel asked, shifting the weight of the package on her hip. "I'm actually heading back there now. I live on one of the ranches. If you promise not to be a rapist or something, you could follow me back? It's only about half a mile." Hazel said, smiling at the woman before her and trying to seem as friendly as possible.
"See, I'd normally pull out the old car and drive here. It was such a nice day I decided to walk." Hazel explained as she began to walk off the platform, motioning for the strange woman to follow. "What exactly are you coming to Pastora for? Not a whole lot of stuff going on there. Visiting a friend perhaps? By the way, my name is Hazel. I'd shake hands but... package, ya know?" Hazel said, jostling her hip so the package could bounce about.
OOC: Now she pulls her aside and eats her flesh. |

She sighed in relief while grabbing the other bag she’d set down (well, thrown down actually) and got ready to follow. Corrine couldn’t help but laugh as she replied, ”No, last time I checked my criminal record, rapist wasn’t one of the things on there.” Other things like, perhaps assaulting a police officer or being a public nuisance may have been on that list, but who really needed to know, right? Landing in step with the woman, Corrine listened as she struck up a conversation; well at least the entire walk wouldn’t be in awkward, stranger silence. She flicked a stray piece of hair out of her eyes as she answered, ”Well, it I was visiting a friend it’d be a pretty short visit seeing as I don’t really know anyone here.” smiling at the pink haired woman Corrine explained, ”I’m moving here actually. I’ve lived in the city for about twenty years and decided that I needed a change to something smaller and a bit simpler.” shrugging she finished with, ”I figured why not give a place like Pastora Valley a try. The name alone sounds simple.” It was all true, Corri had also grown tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and yearned for something along the lines of easy-going and laid back. Plus, being there hadn’t been a large call for musicians or music shops in her area. ”Corrine.” she introduced herself with a smile, ”Don’t worry about it. I won’t hold it against you…too much.” Corrine changed her grip on her suitcase before asking, ”So, have you lived here for a while, Hazel?”WORDS! 308TAGS! Haaaaazel! NOTES!Zombies? | |

[atrb=border,0,true]"Hello!" Hazel waited for the girl to finish talking before saying anything. She didn't blame the girl for coming to Pastora Valley. It would be a massive change of pace. Hazel found herself wondering how a city girl would do in such a quiet town. Granted, it seemed to be picking up as of late but that didn't mean it was near a city. Hell, Pastora was so tiny it wasn't even called a town. It was simply a "valley." Which was what it was, of course.
"Going to be a lot different from the city." Hazel commented, avoiding using the term city girl. Last thing she wanted to do was insult someone coming into her hometown. Perhaps they might even become friends? Wouldn't be good to start off on the wrong foot. "Simple is an over statement here." Hazel concluded nodding her head in agreement.
As they walked Hazel listened to the cicadas chirp and the birds squawk their laughter. "It's a quiet place here. Most visitors don't stay long. They're used to a more hectic life. Some find the peace and nature unnerving. Frankly, I don't mind it. I was born in the house I live in now." Hazel explained, flashing a smile at the thought. Her mother always used to tell the story of her birth.
"Anywho. I hope you like the place. Not a whole lot is going down, but more people keep coming. So maybe that's a good thing. Pleasure to meet ya, by the way, Corrine." Hazel said, thinking that Corrine sounded like a real city name. "Never did understand the city. My parents left the ranch for you, wouldn't ya believe it?"
Step, step, step. The two would be there soon. "Enough about that though. You got a place to stay already lined up? We've got a pretty nice Inn. Wouldn't worry about a reservation. Got some spending cash, I assume?"
OOC: Darn dem dare city folk. |
